Why Join Rotary?

The benefits of being a Rotarian include community service, networking, friendship and opportunities to promote ethics and leadership skills.

Rotarians are business and professional leaders who take an active role in their communities while greatly enriching their personal and professional lives. Each Rotary club contains a diverse group of professional leaders from their own community.

But what Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it. Many membership requirements are designed to help members fully participate and enjoy their Rotary experience.

A qualified candidate for Rotary club membership is an adult of strong character and good reputation. The candidate must fit one of the following criteria:

  • Holds or has held an executive position with discretionary authority in any worthy and recognized business or profession.
  • Serves or has served as a community leader.
  • Is a Rotary Foundation alumnus.
  • How much does it cost to be a member of Sunrise Rotary?
    Admission Fee
    $150 (due with first billing)
    Annual Dues
$284 (billed at $71 per quarter)
    Breakfast
    $13 (weekly, billed quarterly)
    What about the attendance requirement?
Attendance at weekly meetings is something Rotarians take very seriously. All Rotary Club members must attend or make up at least half of their regular club meetings.

Attending weekly club meetings enables members to enjoy their club’s fellowship, enrich their professional and personal knowledge and meet other business leaders in their community.

If a member must miss his or her own club’s meeting, they are encouraged to expand their Rotary horizons by attending make-up meetings at any Rotary club in the world. Your Rotary membership guarantees a warm welcome in communities around the globe. In fact, there are Rotary clubs meeting nearly every business day in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

Members can find meeting places and times in the Official Directory or through: www.rotary.org/en/AboutUs/SiteTools/ClubLocator/Pages/ridefault.aspx
Rotarians can also make up meetings by participating in a club service project, a club board meeting or a Rotaract or Interact club meeting. Members can also make up online at one of several Rotary e-clubs.
