International Hospitality Foundation Committee

Chair: Barbara Parsons - bparsons@steffeslaw.com

Purpose:
The International Hospitality Foundation (IHF) at Louisiana State University (LSU) links the Baton Rouge community and LSU's international students in friendship and intercultural exchange. IHF was founded in 1960 as a non-profit organization and has fostered global understanding for more than 40 years through its programs.

History: (History of Sunrise Rotary’s involvement)
Sunrise Rotary supports the IHF by participating in welcome parties to welcome new international students to LSU at the beginning of each semester. Additionally, various Sunrise Rotarians and their families volunteer as Friendship Hosts for international students. Host families are assigned to a particular student and agree to contact their “adopted” student regularly, offering friendship and involvement in family activities, community events, trips to the mall.
