Rotaract LSU
Rotaract LSU is a club that was chartered by the Baton Rouge Sunrise Rotary Club in 1993. The club consists of the top students on the campus of Louisiana State University. Rotaract emphasizes development in the following four areas: |
- Community Service: Rotaract LSU help the community in various ways. Each semester the club selects different projects to support during the year. These can range from caring for the environment to helping the under-privileged. Expected projects for this semester include partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hospital, the local Food Bank, and Junior Achievement.
- Leadership Development: Rotaract LSU is building leaders student that will be the top leaders on campus and eventually to the world. Through service projects each member will have an opportunity to become a better leader. Rotaract LSU is currently working on starting a Leadership Retreat.
- Professional Development: Rotaract LSU is in the process of starting a job-showing program where Rotaract LSU members can spend a day at a Rotarians workplace. This will give students a real-life experience of things that he/she may be studying in the classroom.
- International Service: In an effort to build cultural understanding Rotaract LSU host a Taste of Diversity every year. This event brings Rotaractors, Sunrise Rotarians, and International students together for a time of fun. Each person brings a different food dish from a culture they are from or a place that they would like to visit.
- Rotaract LSU is also planning on starting a bi-monthly get together with International students. This will be a great way to get International students on LSU’s campus involved.
